Microsoft’s rumored tablet-like device is very real, where it will be known as the Courier. Currently in the late prototype stage of development, it will come in the form of a booklet, featuring two multitouch-capable displays that were specially designed for writing, flicking as well as drawing using a stylus. Needless to say, you can also use your fingers if you want to, but that won’t give you very nice pictures if you’re a stickler for detail. Both displays are connected by a hinge which will house a solitary home button, just like the iPhone.
Essential information including battery life, status description and wireless signal strength are displayed along the rim on one of the displays. Right on the back is a camera for impromptu photo taking sessions, while rumors abound that this can be charged via an inductive pad pretty much the same way as the Palm Pre and its Touchstone charging dock. Let’s hope that the dual screen effort here won’t end up with common cracked hinge problems found in numerous DS Lites all over the world.
